Gaya: Four people, including a father-son duo, died on Friday morning after inhaling suspected poisonous gas inside a nearly 30-foot-deep well at Garh Karmauni village under Dobhi block in Gaya district.The incident occurred when Vijay Choudhary entered the well to repair a water motor pump used for irrigation. He developed breathing difficulties after inhaling the suspected gas. His son Vikas Choudhary entered the well to rescue him, followed by Dilchand Manjhi and Chamari Manjhi, who also became trapped. All four died.Villagers informed officials after the incident, following which Dobhi block development officer Lakshman Kumar and a police team reached the spot. The State Disaster Response Force was called in and its personnel retrieved the bodies, which were sent to Anugrah Narayan Magadh medical college and hospital for postmortem.The BDO said, “Under family welfare scheme Rs 20,000 each was provided to the kin of deceased. It is a matter of investigation what type of gas was present in the well that became fatal for the victims. Further compensation will be provided to the affected families under the provisions of disaster management.”
