Dumka: The management of state-run Phulo Jhano Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) has begun shifting its outpatient departments (OPD) to its new campus in Dighi.In the first phase, ophthalmology, psychiatry and dermatology OPDs are being shifted to the new building. Dr Ruben Hembrom, medical superintendent at PJMCH, said, “The concerned heads of departments have been instructed to supervise the shifting of OPD paraphernalia and ensure that the services are organised properly in the new building.”PJMCH currently operates out of the Dumka Sadar Hospital premises. The construction of the new building, roughly 5 km away, began in 2019. Over Rs 400 crore was spent to build the 500-bed capacity hospital. The PJMCH took formal possession of its new campus six months ago. PJMCH officials said plans are afoot to move all departments and services into the new campus by December this year.Once fully functional, the new campus will improve the medical infrastructure in the district. The hospital building has been planned with modern clinical and diagnostic facilities, including emergency care, operation theatres, laboratories and blood bank services.The OPDs of other departments will continue to function at the existing Sadar Hospital premises for now. The administration has not yet issued any separate schedule for shifting them.
