New Delhi: Jewellery worth more than Rs 2 crore belonging to a Jaipur-based jeweller was stolen from a car after thieves allegedly smashed its rear window in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh, police said.A PCR call was received at Karol Bagh police station on Aug 19 regarding the theft of three bags from a car near Bikaner Chowk. The complainant, a jeweller from Jaipur, had come to Delhi for business purposes and was carrying jewellery and diamonds in the vehicle.According to police, the thieves broke open the rear window of the car and fled with the bags.Local police teams and units reached the spot. They examined CCTV footage from the area and reconstructed the possible movements of the suspects.During sustained analysis of footage from several cameras, police identified two suspects wearing helmets and riding a motorcycle. They traced the motorcycle, identified its registered owner and detained him with his two brothers for questioning.Investigators are now examining their movements and possible links to the theft.CCTV footage from the suspected escape route is also being analysed to identify other people involved in the crime and determine the route taken by them after the theft.Police teams are conducting further raids and searches to recover the stolen jewellery and diamonds and establish the complete sequence of events. Last year in Dec, at least 62 pieces of diamond and gold-coloured stone jewellery were stolen after robbers broke the window of a car in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh.The ornaments belonged to a 34-year-old Civil Lines-based jeweller who has a shop on Karnal Road.
