Dumka: A cleric from Kurba village under the Karmatanr police station limits of Jamtara district, Maulana Afroz, was arrested on charges of allegedly making objectionable remarks against Hindu deities while addressing people in rural markets late Friday, police said.Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) district president Anup Rai said, “Afroz has been making objectionable comments about Hindu deities in local markets and villages for long. We approached the police. When no action followed, representatives of various organisations met Jamtara SDO Anant Kumar on Friday and pressed for immediate intervention.”SDO Kumar said, “We received the complaint and the video footage, post which legal action was initiated. Further probe is under way.”
