Babulal Marandi demands withdrawal of FIRs against Jharkhand students
Babulal Marandi said an independent investigation is necessary to establish the truth behind alleged irregularities

Hazaribag: Former Jharkhand chief minister (CM) and leader of opposition Babulal Marandi on Sunday demanded the immediate withdrawal of the FIRs registered against 200 named and 700 unidentified students during Friday’s protest in the case of alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations conducted by the JPSC and the JSSC.Marandi said, “The students had taken to the streets to raise issues linked to their rights, careers, and alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. Registering FIRs against students who raised their voice for their future is not justified.”“The protesters were students of Jharkhand and the govt should have addressed their concerns instead of initiating criminal proceedings. If examination irregularities allowed candidates from other states or undeserving candidates to secure jobs in Jharkhand, it was a serious matter requiring a thorough investigation,” he claimed.Highlighting the possible impact of an FIR on a student’s career, Marandi said, “A criminal case could damage a young person’s future. The govt should not put students’ careers at risk and withdraw the cases immediately.”Reiterating his demand for a CBI probe, the former CM stressed, “An independent investigation is necessary to establish the truth behind the alleged irregularities.”
