Ramgarh: Police arrested a 20-year-old street vendor from Subhash Chowk and seized 22.260 kg ganja, along with two cars allegedly used for transporting narcotics, officials said on Sunday.Superintendent of police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat told a news conference that a team led by deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Akram Raja conducted the operation near a gumti in front of Durga Mandir at Subhash Chowk.Police said the accused, identified as Ritesh Kumar of New Colony Bagicha, Ramgarh town, tried to flee after seeing the police team but was caught. During questioning, he disclosed his identity and details of the alleged storage of narcotics.A search of the gumti led to the recovery of about 960 grams of ganja. Based on his disclosure, police raided his house and recovered another 21.300 kg of ganja packed in 16 separate packets. Two cars suspected to have been used for transporting the contraband were also seized.A case was registered at Ramgarh police station on Saturday under sections of the NDPS Act. Police said Kumar is being sent to judicial custody, while raids are continuing to arrest the remaining accused.
