Kolkata: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Sunday demanded an impartial inquiry by the state higher education dept into the JU vandalism. They also demanded an NIA probe into alleged anti-national activities on the campus.Following a press meet, they questioned administrative lapses concerning campus safety, political influence, and the cancellation of ongoing examinations. ABVP member Subhabrata Adhikary demanded the resignation of interim registrar Selim Box Mandal over the security failures on campus.Expressing concern over the recent JU incident involving campus clashes, political rallies, and vandalism, they criticised university authorities for allowing outsiders to organise political events on campus. ABVP emphasised that protecting the academic environment remains the primary duty of the university, condemning the disruption of ordinary students’ exams due to political conflicts.Addressing allegations surrounding the damage to the emblem, ABVP explicitly denied any involvement, calling the act a “conspiracy by Left-Naxals”. Nikhil Das, ABVP chief of the JU unit, said, “The emblem was damaged in 2025 during the clash between two groups of left-wing students. At that time, Rajyeswar Sinha was also being attacked by those agitating students.” Demanding an immediate, impartial probe using CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, ABVP urged authorities to stop politically targeting them before probe ends.ABVP state secretary Nilkantha Bhattacharya further condemned physical attacks on their members, calling for democratic resolutions to political differences. The organisation demanded a strict probe into security lapses, calling for JU to be restored as an educational institution rather than an arena for political conflict.
