Chennai: Election flying squad officials seized 2 lakh in cash and a voters’ list from an AIADMK functionary and 21,000 from a BJP functionary during vehicle checks in Kodambakkam. Cases were registered against the functionaries for violation of election norms.The seizures were made during a vehicle check held at the Trustpuram traffic junction in Kodambakkam in the early hours of Friday, when the team intercepted a motorcycle on suspicion. They found 2 lakh in cash along with photocopies of a voters’ list.The rider, identified as Vijay, AIADMK west circle secretary for Ward 112, was taken to the Kodambakkam police station for inquiry.In another incident reported in Kodambakkam, the flying squad acted on information regarding illegal cash distribution. During a search, officials seized 21,000 from a BJP functionary identified as Muthuram Kumar. Police registered a case.
