Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has intensified its sanitation and monsoon preparations from Friday.Municipal commissioner Yashpal Meena fixed strict accountability for zonal inspectors across all 19 zones to manage waste and drainage systems. These inspectors will now be responsible for monitoring points where garbage is dumped, ensuring regular cleaning of the spot, and managing the timely removal of silt extracted from drains.Inspectors have been asked to identify one major road and its connecting streets in every ward daily to ensure the total removal of construction and demolition waste. The PMC is utilising an online portal to upload GPS-tagged photographs of these sites to track progress, supplemented by special night-time drives to clear building materials.Simultaneously, the PMC has transformed 85 identified cleanliness target units through the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign. The cleaning operations were distributed across various circles, with 26 points cleared in the New Capital circle, 18 in Patliputra, 11 in Bankipore, and 10 each in Kankarbagh, Patna City, and Azimabad.Despite existing door-to-door residential collection and road-to-road non-residential services, the PMC has identified challenges regarding waste dumped in open plots and drains by people. While 650 garbage points were previously eliminated, new sites continue to emerge. The PMC stated that negligence by officials will result in disciplinary action. Citizens have been requested to report service failures or missed garbage collection vehicles by calling the toll-free number.
