Hazaribag: Chatra district police foiled an alleged interstate opium trafficking operation and arrested a smuggler with 2.5 kg of a contraband item worth around Rs 11 lakh on Thursday.Acting on a tip-off received by Chatra SP Animesh Naithany, a special team, led by Sadar SDPO Sunny Vardhan, intercepted the suspect near Larkua More on NH-22 along the Chatra-Gaya route.The arrested man was identified as Pawan Kumar (33), a resident of Kolkole village under Lawalong police station. During a search, police allegedly recovered opium packed in two separate socks, along with some cash.Vardhan said that during interrogation, the accused told them that the consignment was headed to Punjab.
