Hazaribag: Three men had a narrow escape after they were swept away by the swelling currents of Gerua river while crossing a bridge in Tandwa block of Chatra district on Thursday. One motorcycle was also swept away.The men, identified as Sandeep Kumar (30) and Balram Goswami (28), were returning from Tandwa market on a motorcycle. They were crossing the bridge when the water level of the river rose, leaving them stranded. One Sanjay Paswan came to their rescue on his two-wheeler, but rising water levels and strong currents swept their motorcycles and dragged them into the river. “Two of them managed to swim to the bank, while the third was rescued near the bridge with the help of police and residents,” Pappu Kumar Sharma, the officer-in charge of Tandwa police station, said.The trio were subsequently taken to Tandwa Community Health Centre, where they received first aid before being discharged.
