Madhepura: A 23-year-old woman died and three others, including a one-year-old child, sustained injureies after a speeding unidentified four-wheeler hit their motorcycle from behind on NH-27 in Supaul district on Friday while they were on their way to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.The deceased was identified as Puja Devi, wife of Ravi Dhami and a resident of Pipra in Supaul district.According to police, Puja was travelling on a motorcycle with her brother Dilkush Kumar, his wife Kishmish Devi and a one-year-old child to Basopatti village to celebrate Raksha Bandhan when the accident occurred. The four-wheeler allegedly hit the bike from behind and fled the spot.Locals rushed the victims to Raghopur hospital, where doctors declared Puja dead on arrival. The three injured persons were admitted for treatment, with the child’s condition stated to be critical.Dilkush Kumar, a resident of Koriyapatti village under Jadiya police station, said the family was on its way to a relative’s house for Rakhi celebrations when the speeding vehicle struck their motorcycle.After receiving information about the accident, a police team reached the spot and launched an investigation.Raghopur SHO Amit Kumar Rai said the body had been sent to Supaul for post-mortem. Police are trying to identify the vehicle involved and trace its driver. Further investigation is underway.
