Gaya: Senior superintendent of police Sushil Kumar flagged off the Abhaya Brigade, a women police patrol team, from the Police Lines ground in Gaya on Friday morning.To enhance the safety of women and girls, Gaya Police have deployed 30 scooters and 40 motorcycles for women police personnel to patrol areas around schools, colleges, markets and other vulnerable public places. The vehicles are part of the 4,700 bikes and scooters provided by the state govt to districts across Bihar.The SSP said women police personnel, designated as Police Didi, will use the vehicles allotted to police stations across the district for regular patrolling in areas with a high movement of women and girls. They will also keep a watch on isolated and sensitive locations.“They will act against incidents of harassment, violence and other objectionable activities involving women and girls. The initiative also aims to encourage interaction between women police personnel and students. The teams will also spread awareness about the emergency response service, Dial 112,” he said.
