Ramgarh: Police have prepared digital profiles of as many as 258 criminals with the help of Digital Criminal Monitoring Portal, developed for crime control, effective surveillance of active criminals and speedy detection of cases.“Ramgarh police have identified a total of 1,971 accused criminals in different crime heads from Jan 1, 2021 to Mar 31, 2026. Out of them, 1,374 belong to Ramgarh district, 458 to other districts and 139 outside Jharkhand state,” Ramgarh SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said.“In the past one month, a special drive was conducted and physical verification of 258 accused criminals involved in six types of crimes under Arms and NDPS Act, and accused of extortion, dacoity, loot and snatching charges was done and their digital profiles have been uploaded on the portal,” the SP added.SP Lunayat on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the 36-member Crime Prevention and Detection Wing and the Digital Criminal Monitoring Portal during a meeting with sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs), police inspectors, police station heads and nodal officers, who were directed to make Dual Criminal Verification, Digital Profiling and regular monitoring more effective on Tuesday.Police have initiated action against criminals after verification. Action has been taken against 74 criminals under the BNSS, while 28 proposals under Crime Control Act were filed, including four district bans, 22 cases requiring regular police station attendance and two externment orders. Besides, 131 criminals were placed under surveillance and 33 were entered in the Gunda Register.SP Lunayat directed that every accused should be physically verified by both the case police stations and the one in their area. Their criminal history, current address and modus operandi should also be updated on the portal.He also emphasised inter-station criminal intelligence sharing and the use of portal data for crime analysis. He directed that, within the next month, verification and digital profiling of criminals involved in theft, burglary, and vehicle theft should also be completed.
