Patna: A ticket checking drive was conducted at Danapur railway station till late Wednesday evening during which 320 passengers were penalised for allegedly travelling without valid tickets. The railway authorities collected a fine of Rs 2.80 lakh from the passengers during the intensive ticket checking campaign.According to Danapur senior divisional commercial manager (senior DCM) Abhinav Siddarth, the special ticket checking drive was carried out by the ticket checking staff of Danapur division to curb ticketless travel and ensure a hassle-free journey for genuine passengers in the reserved coaches .As many as 14 passenger trains which included Patna – Kashi Jansatabdi Express, Bhabhua – Patna Intercity Express, Islampur- New Delhi Magadh Express, Danapur-Udhna Express, Bhagalpur – Anand Vihar Garib Rath, Ara- Kolkata Garib Rath, Patna- Ara passenger, Patna – Sasaram passenger, Patna – Buxar passenger, Secunderabad- Danapur Express, Kota- Patna Express , Fatuha- Buxar passenger , Danapur – Rajgir passenger and Patna – Buxar passenger were thoroughly checked by the ticket checking staff with full coordination of RPF personnel, he said .“Such drives are being conducted regularly at major stations in Danapur division and trains to prevent unauthorised travel and improve passenger convenience. The ticket checking teams verified the tickets of passengers and took action against those found travelling without valid tickets as per railway rules,” Siddarth said.Meanwhile, the railways has appealed to passengers to buy proper tickets before boarding trains and cooperate with railway ticket checking staff during checking drives, he said adding regular inspections would continue at stations and in long distance trains under Danapur division to discourage ticketless travel and provide a comfortable travel experience to passengers.
