NEW DELHI: The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has directed CG Foods India Pvt Ltd to stop production of its ‘Veg Bhujia Namkeen’ after an inspection at the company’s facility in Rajasthan found multiple food safety and hygiene violations.The food regulator said on Thursday that enforcement action had been initiated against the company over “unsafe processing, unlicensed bhujia manufacturing, and predated packaging”.During an inspection at the company’s unit in Roopangarh, Ajmer, officials found floor-collected and broken noodles being reprocessed into bhujia without heat treatment, FSSAI said.The inspection also uncovered the use of predated packaging and the unlicensed manufacture of ‘Wai-Wai MaMa’ and ‘Wai-Wai Mama Punte’ bhujia variants, allegedly in violation of Section 31(1) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.FSSAI said officials seized 32,107.2 kg of stock, including loose broken noodles, from the premises.The inspection further revealed deficiencies in hygiene and documentation, including inadequate pest-control records and other food safety lapses.Officials collected samples for laboratory testing and detained 1,925 boxes of expired finished products. Legal proceedings have also been initiated against the company.FSSAI directed CG Foods India to discontinue production of Veg Bhujia Namkeen products without the required approvals and corrective measures.The regulator said further action would be taken based on the laboratory test results and findings of the inspection.
