Patna: A 16-year-old girl has accused a 22-year-old boy of raping her at a hotel in Patna on Aug 31.The girl, accompanied by her family members, approached a police station on Friday and lodged a complaint. Based on her complaint, police registered a case under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and other applicable provisions and launched an investigation. The matter appears related to a love affair, police said.According to the police, the minor developed friendship with the boy some time back. The two reportedly began communicating regularly and gradually developed a close relationship. The girl told police that the boy had allegedly assured her that he would marry her.Police said the boy later came to Patna to meet her. The two allegedly booked a hotel and stayed there on Aug 31 night. She alleged that the boy raped her during their stay.After returning home, the girl’s family members questioned her about her absence. She subsequently informed them about the incident, following which her family took her to a police station on Friday and lodged a complaint.A police officer said, “Police have arranged for the girl to undergo a medical examination. Her statement has also been recorded before a court as part of the investigation. They were known to each other and were in a relationship. When the accused denied marrying her, she filed a police case.”Police have inspected the hotel room where the alleged incident took place and are questioning hotel employees to establish the circumstances surrounding the case. Police are also examining the role of the accused and other aspects of the incident.Police said action would be taken based on the evidence gathered during the probe.
