Villagers rush to collect oil after tanker overturns
Residents and passersby collected oil for nearly 30 minutes before police reached the spot

Koderma: An oil tanker overturned near Kali Mandir at Meghatari on NH-20, under Koderma police station limits, on Saturday, triggering a rush among villagers to collect the spilling refined oil.Residents and passersby arrived with plastic canisters, steel buckets and aluminium vessels, collecting oil for nearly 30 minutes before police reached the spot.Driver Sukh Nain Singh was transporting the consignment from Haldia in West Bengal to Bihar. He told police that he swerved to avoid a truck attempting to overtake on a slope and curve, lost control, and overturned.Locals rescued Singh from the cabin. Police stopped the looting and sent him to Sadar Hospital. Officer in-charge Arvind Kumar said an investigation into the accident and oil theft was under way.
