Dhanbad: Munmun Bhattacharya, headmistress of Govt Middle School at Barmasia in Dhanbad district, was conferred the National Teachers’ Award by President Droupadi Murmu in New Delhi on Teachers’ Day on Saturday.Bhattacharya was among 48 teachers from across the country selected for the honour. She received a certificate of appreciation, a shawl and a cash prize of Rs 50,000.An English teacher, Bhattacharya earned recognition for transforming learning outcomes in a govt school through innovative teaching practices. Her initiative, ‘English Around Me’, encouraged students to use English in daily conversations, helping them overcome language barriers and build confidence.Bhattacharya said, “Quality education is not limited to books and examinations. My aim has been to develop curiosity among kids, confidence and a willingness to learn.”Her innovative methods have helped students become more expressive and engaged in the learning process. Her efforts have also contributed in creating a positive academic environment.
