Patna: CM Samrat Choudhary on Saturday announced that Bihar will set up a dedicated Teacher Training University to improve training and capacity building for teachers across the state.Addressing a Teacher’s Day function at S K Memorial Hall in Patna, Choudhary said Bihar has more than 7 lakh teachers serving in primary schools, higher education institutions, engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes. A separate university, he said, would focus on improving teaching quality and providing periodic training.The CM also said efforts would be made to establish a centre of Banaras Hindu University in Bihar to expand higher education opportunities for students of the state.Choudhary said the govt was working to train teachers through modern technology and artificial intelligence. With support from leading technology institutions such as Microsoft, Google and Sarvam AI, a modern AI ecosystem would be developed in Bihar, and teachers would be trained in the latest AI technologies, he said, adding a memorandum of understanding was signed between the state education department and Google in this regard.He said the examination system also needs to be made modern and faster. “The govt’s target is to declare Matric examination results within seven days of the conclusion of the exam. If a student has an objection to the marks obtained, a system will be created to allow the student to reappear within 15 days in a prescribed slot. Similarly, the government plans to develop a system to release engineering and polytechnic results within 24 hours,” he said.Choudhary said delays in results create difficulties for students in pursuing further studies and securing admissions. Decentralising the examination system and releasing centre-wise results are also under consideration, he said, adding that the Bihar School Examination Board should carry out necessary reforms.The CM said payment of pending salaries of teachers under the madrassa and Sanskrit Board has begun to ensure timely remuneration. He also announced plans for a separate pay scale arrangement for teachers of unaided schools and colleges. As per a rough estimate, Bihar has about 1.5 lakh unaided teachers.At the event, Choudhary congratulated Gopalganj teacher Pushpa Prasad and Banka teacher Khushboo Kumari, who were honoured by President Droupadi Murmu for excellent performance on Teacher’s Day. He said these measures aim to improve teacher welfare and strengthen technology-driven education administration systems statewide.
