Dhanbad: Former Dhanbad Cricket Association (DCA) general secretary SA Rahman has approached the Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) ombudsman, challenging the cancellation of his membership and seeking relief against his expulsion from the district body.Addressing a press conference on Monday, Rahman alleged that the DCA management had acted against him after he withdrew his candidature for the secretary’s post during the association’s election on Aug 16, 2024.Denying the allegations against him, Rahman questioned the procedure followed by the association. He said the DCA should focus its efforts and resources on developing young cricketers and creating opportunities for players from Dhanbad to compete at higher levels.Rahman claimed there was no evidence to support the allegation that he had made misleading statements to the media. He also said only a few routine photographs had been taken during an annual general meeting and denied any wrongdoing related to the event.He further claimed that he had never received any written communication seeking financial accounts or clarification, either during his tenure as DCA general secretary from 2006 to 2014 or later.Rahman said the JSCA ombudsman and retired Chief Justice Vijay Kumar Bisht has taken cognisance of his representation and directed the state cricket association to submit its response within three weeks. He said the response would help the ombudsman decide his petition.Rahman said he was confident of receiving relief through the proceedings. He added that he was considering legal action against people who, he alleged, had circulated misleading statements about him on social media.
