Dumka/Hazaribag: BJP on Tuesday held rallies and public meetings in six districts on Tuesday to mark the party’s statewide three-day campaign pressing for a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities into the recruitment examinations conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).Protests were held in Ranchi, Dumka, Hazaribag, Giridih, Jamshedpur and Garhwa. In Dumka, leader of opposition Babulal Marandi led a rally which began from Yagya Maidan and marched through Tin Bazar, Neeche Bazar and other localities before culminating into a public meeting outside the office of deputy commissioner (DC). Former MPs Sunil Soren and Abhaykant Prasad, along with scores of party functionaries, took part in the rally. A delegation then submitted a memorandum to the DC listing their demands.Addressing the meeting, Marandi said students were assaulted during the protest. “Police registered cases against students and not on those who attacked them,” Marandi claimed. Marandi demanded immediate withdrawal of the cases, action against the attackers and a CBI probe into the irregularities. “The govt is trying to avoid a CBI investigation. If the CBI starts probing the matter, its trail could reach the chief minister’s office,” Marandi said.Congress spokesperson and senior party functionary Shyamal Kishore Singh said the alleged irregularities were being investigated, and the govt would act based on the findings. “The BJP should refrain from settling political scores by using students as a pawn. Students’ interests must not be reduced to political propaganda,” he saidIn Hazaribag, former CM Raghubar Das took part in the gherao of the offices of DC and SP.
