Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) collected around Rs93.68 lakh property tax from all six circles on Tuesday as part of its revenue enhancement drive. Patliputra circle recorded the highest collection at Rs67.99 lakh from 129 properties.A total of 113 properties were assessed for tax during the campaign, while 35 properties underwent self-reassessment. Another 13 properties were reassessed with penalties.According to PMC’s official communique issued on Tuesday, circle-wise, Azimabad collected around Rs5.18 lakh from 101 properties, Bankipur Rs4.26 lakh from 67 properties, Kankarbagh Rs8.68 lakh from 103 properties, New Capital Rs5.63 lakh from 94 properties and Patna City Rs1.92 lakh from 38 properties.PMC officials said officers are conducting door-to-door visits and site inspections to identify properties outside the tax net and verify property details. Revenue teams have also been joined by trained sanitation staff for the campaign.The civic body has deployed additional staff at all tax counters and assigned property tax assessment duties to zonal inspectors. Officials have been provided authorised IDs and trained for the task.PMC has urged property owners to complete self-assessment and pay property tax by Sept 30. A penalty of 1.5% per month will apply on payments made after the deadline. The civic body has also appealed to taxpayers to report any demand for additional payment by its employees. The civic body said taxpayers should pay only the amount displayed against their SAS/PID number on the online portal.In another development, the executive officer has written to Pirbahore police station seeking an FIR against a builder for allegedly obstructing and misbehaving with the civic body’s team during measurement of a newly constructed building near Science College on Ashok Rajpath.
