Kolkata: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force of the Bengal STF arrested a woman in the Ultadanga area on Monday and seized heroin worth about Rs 81 lakh. Officers raided the Khalpar area near 46, Canal Road, intercepted the woman, and recovered around 408 g of heroin and Rs 25,000 in cash.Officials are investigating where the drugs came from, who was involved in the supply chain, and whether the accused has links to a larger cartel.The arrest follows another major drug case in Kolkata, in which 104 g of cocaine worth over Rs 10 lakh was seized, and three people were arrested.Police suspect that local dealers may be working with foreign drug networks using encrypted dark web platforms and middlemen. The recent operations show that enforcement agencies are increasing action against both local drug peddlers and international smuggling networks.
