Patna: Bihar Police has brought 968 police stations and outposts under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), with efforts under way to extend the system to the remaining units, ADG (law and order) K S Anupam said on Monday.She said hardware had already been supplied to the remaining police stations and outposts to facilitate the rollout. The police department is also strengthening the Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) to enable seamless exchange of information among police, courts, forensic laboratories, prosecution and prison authorities.Police stations across the state are currently using the ICJS portal for investigations, while equipment procurement and network connectivity are being upgraded for the implementation of ICJS 2.0.Anupam said e-Sakshya, a digital evidence management platform, has already been operationalised in Bihar. Police officers and investigators have been trained to use the system for videography and photography of crime scenes and other forms of digital evidence collection.The department has also introduced e-Summon, allowing summons, warrants and other court orders to be transmitted electronically to police stations. The system enables digital service of documents and real-time updates to courts, improving transparency and monitoring.She added that the MedLEaPR system has been integrated with the CCTNS portal, enabling post-mortem and injury reports prepared by doctors to be received electronically by police.Bihar Police is also digitising legacy records from 2008 to 2018 and uploading them to the CCTNS platform. In addition, a GIS-based police station jurisdiction mapping portal is being used to digitally demarcate police station boundaries, helping improve jurisdiction identification, patrolling, resource management and crime analysis.Anupam said 44 infrastructure projects worth Rs 418.42 crore are currently under way, including the construction of police stations, police lines and offices of SDPOs and inspectors.
