New Delhi: A minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 56-year-old man inside a shop in central Delhi’s Sadar Bazaar after being lured into the premises late at night, police said.The incident came to light on Sept 16 after a PCR call was received. Police teams from Sadar Bazaar police station, along with ACPs of Sadar Bazaar and Women Police Station, reached the spot.According to police, the girl had stepped out of her home around 11 pm to buy stationery when a man allegedly lured her into his shop, where he restrained and sexually assaulted her.An FIR was registered at North District Women’s Police Station under relevant sections of BNS. Police said the accused, identified as Maqsood, was arrested and produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody.In another incident, a 34-year-old man was apprehended by residents for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-yearold girl in central Delhi Monday evening. Locals said the accused was caught in Kishanganj and taken to the police post. Subsequently, an FIR was registered at police station, DBG road. The accused was taken into custody.The incident comes amid a spate of cases involving alleged sexual offences against minors in Delhi. On Sept 12, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in outer Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar. Police have apprehended three juveniles and a 19-year-old man in connection with the case.Around Sept 14, a 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly abducting and sexually assaulting a nine-year-old in Swaroop Nagar.Earlier, in Bawana, a three-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a school-cab driver. The recent cases have renewed concerns over the safety of children and the need for swift investigation and action in such offences.
