Dumka: A 17-year-old youth was killed and his 15-year-old cousin was critically injured after their motorcycle was hit by a truck near Loharangi More under Narayanpur police station limits in Jamtara district late on Monday.The deceased, Shamshed Ansari (17) of Rampur village, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhanbad. His cousin, Zahid Ansari of Birajpur village under Karmatand police station area, is undergoing treatment.The duo was rescued by locals and taken to a community health centre (CHC) in Narayanpur, where they were administered first aid and referred to Dhanbad. “Both the youth sustained serious head injuries and required advanced medical care,” Aishwarya Munshi, a doctor at the CHC, said.The truck was seized by police, but its driver managed to flee. “The circumstances leading to the accident are being investigated,” Murad Hasan, the officer-in-charge of Narayanpur police station, said on Tuesday.
