CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu law and energy minister C T R Nirmal Kumar on Tuesday clarified that no final decision has been taken regarding the proposed construction of a new secretariat at Pattinapakkam.Speaking to reporters at the secretariat on Tuesday, the minister stated that only preliminary assessment work and the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) were under way. He said the govt would make an official announcement only after the DPR and all necessary evaluations were completed.“The govt will not take any action that goes against the interests of the public or the fishing community,” Nirmal Kumar said, echoing earlier clarifications made by minister Aadhav Arjuna.Nirmal Kumar questioned DMK’s rush to approach the court while the proposal is still at a conceptual stage. He called it an attempt to stall the project prematurely. He added that the govt would file an appropriate response in court regarding the issue.
