Mumbai: Bandra police have arrested a 28-year-old woman, KJ Nikki, for allegedly attacking and biting a female police constable when she was being detained for allegedly creating a ruckus in a drunken state during the Mount Mary Fest on Sept 20.Nikki allegedly bit constable Yashoda Chougule (37) on her left arm, while other female police officers tried to detain her for causing a disturbance outside Carmel Church on Chapel Road in Bandra West. Nikki was produced before the Bandra court, which remanded her in custody.Chougule, posted at Bandra police station, said officers in Bandra Mobile 06 reached the spot around 9.10pm after beat officer API Varapde sought assistance from female personnel when he noticed Nikki and her sister, who were allegedly drunk, creating a ruckus on the road.Chougule alleged that Nikki, a domestic worker from Kalina Koliwada, hurled abuses at them, refused to enter the police vehicle, and resisted detention. According to Chougule, Nikki approached her from behind, grabbed her and bit her left arm, causing bleeding. Female police constable Padvi freed Chougule, while other female personnel helped detain Nikki. The accused allegedly also pushed and abused them.Police took Nikki to Bandra police station. Later, Chougule and the accused were sent for medical examination.The complaint by Chougule accused Nikki of disturbing public peace, abusing police, and obstructing officers from performing their duty. Its concluding account separately alleged that Chougule was injured when Nikki struck her left arm with a stick before biting her and injuring her.
