Ranchi: A murder accused undergoing treatment in the medicine ICU at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) escaped from the hospital early Wednesday, police said.The accused, identified as Hathiya Hembrom, 45, a resident of Pakur, had been admitted to Rims on Sept 20. He was undergoing treatment under the supervision of the hospital’s medicine department.“Although security personnel from Pakur had been deployed outside the ward, he managed to escape around 4 am. Police have launched a search operation to trace and arrest him,” Bariatu police station officer in-charge Prakash Rajak told TOI.Rajak said Hembrom is accused of murdering his wife.Rims PRO Dr Shishir Kumar said Hembrom was suffering from a condition involving dryness of the brain nerves. “He was therefore not kept in the prison ward and was admitted to the medicine ICU for observation,” Kumar said.
