Patna: The district-level school sports competition will be held from Sept 30 to Oct 4 at various sports grounds in Patna under the annual sports programme 2026-27. The event will give students an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent in competition.The competition will have three age categories — under-14, under-17 and under-19. Students of Classes 6 to 12 will be eligible, with age calculated as on Dec 31, 2026. Students from govt middle, secondary and higher secondary schools, CBSE and ICSE-affiliated private schools, govt Ambedkar Schools, OBC girls’ residential plus-two schools and institutions recognised for +2 level by Bihar School Examination Board/Intermediate Education Council can participate. Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are excluded.Registration is free and will continue till Sept 26 at District Sports Office, Sports Building, Rajendra Nagar. Participants must submit a school head-certified form with copies of Aadhaar card, birth certificate and previous year’s marksheet.A player can compete in only one sport, while athletes can take part in three athletics events. Schools must field complete teams in team sports.The competition will be inaugurated at 9am on Sept 30 at Pataliputra Sports Complex, Kankarbagh, with a march past by participating schools. Cricket selection trials and other events will be held at different venues.DM Kundan Kumar directed officials to ensure maximum participation and provide talented players opportunities to progress to district, state and national-level competitions.
