Patna: Days after molestation incidents in Jamui and Samastipur sparked concern, a viral video allegedly showing a minor girl being harassed in public at Banka’s Mandar Parvat tourist site has surfaced online, prompting police action against six unidentified youths.The video, allegedly shot at the tourist site under Bounsi police station area, shows a group of youths misbehaving with the girl, twisting her arm and attempting to hit her with a slipper. One of the youths is also seen carrying a stick. The clip, edited with a song glorifying hooliganism, has been widely circulated on social media.However, police said preliminary findings suggest the video may be around six months old, despite a Sept 3 date appearing on it. Investigators are trying to establish the exact date of the incident and verify the circumstances in which the footage was recorded.Bounsi SHO Pankaj Kumar Jha said the video was received by the social media cell through WhatsApp on Sept 22. A police team subsequently verified the location and found that the footage appeared to have been shot at Mandar Parvat.Police have registered an FIR suo motu against six unidentified youths under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Bounsi SDPO Indrajit Baitha said efforts were underway to identify those seen in the video, and further legal action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
