Patna: The road construction department (RCD) said on Friday that road communication had been restored and several flood-damaged roads made motorable across the state. Damaged small bridges and culverts have also been repaired.Flooding, erosion and waterlogging damaged roads in Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Saran, Patna, East Champaran, West Champaran, Bhojpur, Begusarai, Khagaria, Muzaffarpur and Araria, among other districts.In Purnia, the Rupauli-Vijayghat road via Mohanpur has been repaired. Erosion had created ditches near Mohanpur, Bankatta and Lalganj. The damaged portions were filled with granular sub-base, while flanks were repaired with sandbags, making the road motorable.In Patna, damaged stretches between Bhadraghat and Deedarganj Southern Bank, besides areas near Mahavir Ghat, Gaighat, Balwachowk, Neema, Madarpur, Rasoolpur, Sukulpur, Rasalpur, Bararpur, Raipur and Khaspur, have been strengthened.In Katihar, permanent repairs were undertaken on a 6-km stretch of the Amdabad-Manihari road near Gobindpur, Dalabir and Babupur after floodwaters receded. Barricading was also installed. The Katihar-Purnia NH-62 and Telta-Mahishal, Gwaltoli-Kushida, Damdama-Azamnagar and Sonauli-Chandpur sections were repaired.In Bhagalpur, repairs were carried out at Domania Chowk, Pirpainty-Babupur, Bhairva pond, Mohanpur, Sahebganj and Dogachhi on Tilka Manjhi-Champanagar road.The RCD said engineers were maintaining constant vigil at sensitive spots. Barricading has been erected where floodwaters have not receded to ensure commuter safety.
