Patna: The Congress and Youth Congress on Saturday demanded an impartial inquiry into various aspects of the Jamui minor molestation case, including the circulation of videos and reels related to the incident on social media, alleged violations of the victim’s privacy and police action against a Youth Congress worker arrested during protests over the case.State Congress president RajeshRam said accountability should be fixed on all those who violated the privacy of the minor girl and her family, irrespective of their position or influence.“The law is equal for all. Those responsible for violating the privacy of the victim and her family should be held accountable. A fair and impartial investigation should be conducted into all related matters,” he told reporters.The Jamui case came to light after a video allegedly showing a minor girl being molested by a group of youths surfaced on social media. The incident triggered outrage and led to police action against several accused. The episode also drew attention because videos and reels related to the victim and her family were allegedly circulated on social media.The Congress alleged that privacy norms were violated both during and after the incident and sought an inquiry into the creation and dissemination of such content.The party also raised concerns over police action against Navin, a Youth Congress worker who was arrested while protesting against the incident.National Youth Congress secretary and Bihar in-charge PunitSinghParia said any action against protesters should be in accordance with the law. “If Navin or any other protester has violated the law, action should be taken in accordance with legal provisions. However, allegations of harassment and intimidation of his family should be impartially investigated,” Paria said.The Congress netas said all aspects related to the incident, including the alleged privacy violations and subsequent developments, should be examined through a fair probe.
