MUMBAI: Two men died inside a public toilet in Goregaon East from suspected suffocation early on Sunday. Vanrai Police have registered cases of accidental death. Police are investigating whether a plating workshop located next to the public toilet had anything to do with the deaths.The incident occurred around 2.30am at Shivshankar Nagar, near Ram Mandir railway station. The two deceased, Bhavin Desai, 18, and Prabhakar Dhivar, 25, were members of a Ganpati mandal. Late on Saturday, they went for dinner with six other members of the mandal. They stayed out late, chatting. Around 2.30am, Desai and Dhivar went to the public toilet to answer nature’s call.When they did not come out for a long time, the other members of the mandal became worried. They went to the toilet to check and found Desai and Dhivar lying unconscious. They rushed them to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead. Vanrai Police were informed.“We are investigating whether any gas fumes emerging from the plating workshop caused the two men to suffocate,” said a senior police official.
