Youth stabbed to death in city wedding clash
At a vibrant wedding celebration in Patna, a shocking confrontation erupted over the blaring DJ music, resulting in the tragic death of 18-year-old Vikas Kumar. The incident unfolded when drunken wedding guests clashed with local residents, leading to chaos. In a heroic attempt to shield his brother from the ensuing violence, Vikas lost his life.

Patna: A youth identified as Vikas Kumar (18) was stabbed to death early Tuesday morning following a clash triggered over playing of loud music by DJ, eyewitnesses said.The incident occurred around 3am in Dujra Devisthan lane under Buddha Colony police station area, while a wedding ceremony was being held next door to Vikas’s house, where loud music was being played late in the night, they said.The groom’s procession came from Malsalami in Patna City for the marriage of Lalit Mahato’s younger daughter. Several members from the grooms’ side, including a few local youths, who were reportedly drunk and creating a ruckus. The local residents objected to dancing and singing, which led to an argument. Soon local residents and the wedding party started attacking each other, local people said.Scared members of the wedding party ran for safety and entered a nearby house. When the attackers started banging on the door of the house to force their way in, Vikas’s brother Neeraj came out. Mistaking him for one of the wedding guests, the attackers beat him severely and hit his head. Vikas rushed outside to check on his injured brother and he was stabbed with a knife by the assailants. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot, local people said.Vikas’s family lodged an FIR in Buddha Colony police station in this regard.However, some locals alleged that first the clash broke out around 1am, during which youths attacked each other with belts. A police patrol team used mild lathicharge to disperse the youths and asked them to calm down so the wedding could proceed peacefully. However, the fighting resumed around 3am in the absence of police, leading to the fatal stabbing.SHO, Buddha Colony, Pallav, said the accused have been identified and raids are underway to arrest them. “Police have seized two motorcycles from the spot. The exact motive will be clear after the arrest of the accused,” he said.
