Ranchi: Police detained a minor boy in connection with the desecration of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee’s statue in the Harmu area of Ranchi city on Sunday evening.Police on Tuesday stated that following the registration of an FIR, police tracedhim on the basis of technical inputs, adding that a black spray box andan iPhone were seized from him. The 17-year-old boy would be produced before thecourt, police added.BJP leader Indrajit Kumar Yadav had on Monday lodged an FIR in connection with the case, claiming that miscreants had smeared black paint on Dr Mukherjee’s face and also written indecent words on the statue. BJP leaders had sought the immediate arrest of the miscreants. The boy has a history of misconduct. Earlier, he had threatened his mother, who works as a domestic servant, to buy him a premium smartphone, or else he would die by suicide. He was produced before theJuvenile Justice Board on on Tuesday.
