Ranchi: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has thrown up two constituency-level outliers. Chatra accounts for nearly two-fifths of all Form-7 applications and objections in the state, while Ranchi’s Hatia has contributed nearly 7% of all Form-8 applications during the claims and objections period.According to the Election Commission’s bulletin on Tuesday, Chatra constituency received 4,740 Form-7 applications — 4,530 up to Sunday and 210 on Monday. Against the statewide total of 12,265, Chatra’s share is 38.6%.The concentration is notable because Chatra district has only two assembly constituencies. Simaria reported 107 Form-7 applications up to Sunday and two more on Monday. Together, the constituencies accounted for 4,849 applications, with almost the entire district’s volume coming from Chatra.In Hatia, the surge is not in deletion-related objections but in applications seeking corrections and other changes to electoral-roll entries. The constituency received 29,681 Form-8 applications — 29,274 up to Sunday and 407 on Monday. This is 6.8% of the state’s 4,36,782 Form-8 applications.The figures do not indicate how many Form-7 applications concern deceased, shifted or duplicate electors, or how many will result in deletions. The EC has not provided a category-wise break-up of Hatia’s Form-8 applications.Claims received up to Wednesday will be disposed of by Oct 14. The final roll is due on Oct 19.
