Patna: The proposed bypass connecting NH-139 around Daudnagar in Aurangabad district is moving closer to construction, with the tendering process now in its final stage. The project, estimated to cost around Rs288 crore, is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the busy parts of Daudnagar once completed.Around 29.08 hectares of land will be acquired for the project. Land in Amauna, Sipaha, Nima, Ankoraha, Tarari, Pilchi, Tarar and Mahawar mauzas has been identified for acquisition. Of the total project cost, approximately Rs159 crore will be spent on road construction, while the remaining amount will be used for land acquisition. The construction will be undertaken by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).The proposed bypass will run through the eastern side of Bhakhraua Chowk. It will begin from NH-139 near BEd College on the Daudnagar-Patna road and reconnect with NH-139 near the Nasriganj Road overbridge towards Aurangabad. The alignment will also cross NH-120, where an overbridge has been proposed. It will pass near Budhanbigha village before the jail.According to NHAI executive engineer Tulsi Prasad, officials recently conducted a site inspection in connection with the land acquisition process. The team included district land acquisition officer Shubhendra Kumar Jha, SDO Ritesh Kumar Yadav, Daudnagar LRDC Pranav Kumar, additional district land acquisition officer Jitendra Kumar Sinha and Daudnagar circle officer, among others.Officials decided to expedite the land acquisition process so that the project can move forward.“Once completed, vehicles travelling between Patna and Aurangabad will be able to bypass Daudnagar’s congested urban stretches. The project is expected to particularly reduce traffic pressure at Bhakhraua Chowk, which witnesses considerable movement of vehicles,” Prasad said.He added that with the tender process nearing completion, the project is now closer to entering the construction phase. Besides improving connectivity, the bypass is expected to make movement easier for residents of surrounding areas and potentially generate local employment during its construction. For residents, the project is being viewed as a significant infrastructure development that could improve everyday mobility while providing an alternative route for through traffic between Patna and Aurangabad.
