Ranchi: A nurse from Chhota Ghaghra was allegedly held captive and forced into domestic work in Dubai after being promised a nursing job by a private recruitment agency, prompting Ranchi police to register an FIR against three people.Police said Monica Kachhap, who reached Dubai on May 5, had allegedly been abused. Her visa has expired and company agents have allegedly confiscated her passport. She is staying near Abu Baker Al Siddique Metro Station.The FIR was registered at airport police station on Tuesday following a complaint by her father against private company agent Priyanka Arya, her husband Ritesh and Md Meraj Ansari. Police said they were in contact with Indian Embassy to facilitate Monica’s return. Her family has also sought authorities’ intervention.According to the complaint, Monica applied after the company advertised a vacancy on social media. She expected to work as a nurse, but the company’s driver allegedly took her passport after collecting her at the airport.On May 7, she was taken to an office on the 24th floor of a building in Ajman, where Ritesh and Ansari allegedly pressured her to sign documents in Arabic. She was later told that the documents showed she had borrowed 12,600 dirhams and could return to India only after repaying the amount.Her father alleged that Monica electronically transferred Rs 15,000 to Priyanka on April 22 after being promised the job. She also paid money subsequently demanded for an air ticket.He said Monica, who holds a BSc in nursing, had worked at a private hospital in Ranchi and contacted Priyanka through social media before leaving for Dubai without informing her family.Airport police station officer-in-charge Pankaj Sharma said the case was registered under BNS sections 146 for forced labour, 318(4) for cheating, 127(7) for wrongful confinement and 316(2) for criminal breach of trust.
