Jamshedpur minor girl swept away by Subarnarekha on Jitiya

Jamshedpur: A nine-year-old girl was swept away by the Subarnarekha river while bathing at Gandhi Ghat in Mango under the Sakchi police station limits during Jitiya festival on Saturday, police said.Santosh Thakur of Samta Nagar, Mango, had gone to the river with his wife and two daughters — Jyoti Kumari, 14, and Poonam Kumari, 9. While bathing, both girls slipped and were carried away by the current. Hearing the mother’s cries, locals rescued Jyoti. She was admitted at the MGM Hospital. But Poonam was swept away, police added.
