RJD youth wing to take athletes’ concerns to govt

Ranchi: The youth wing of the RJD on Wednesday held an interaction with international, national and state-level sportspersons to discuss challenges faced by athletes and assured them that their concerns would be taken up with the state govt.Among those who participated were international wushu medallist Tanushree Dwivedi, national wushu medallist Dhruv Dwivedi, athletics players Anup Yadav, Ashish Pandey and Amardeep, and kabaddi player Rohit Rai.The athletes highlighted issues such as inadequate sports infrastructure, lack of equipment and financial constraints during training and competitions. Key demands included free access to stadiums and training grounds, provision of sports equipment, reimbursement of competition expenses, regular scholarships for state and national-level players, and healthcare benefits.RJD youth wing state president Ranjan Yadav said, “It is the govt’s responsibility to provide grounds, equipment, training facilities, travel support and accommodation so that athletes could focus on performance.”The party said it would compile the demands into a memorandum and submit it to chief minister Hemant Soren and chief secretary Avinash Kumar, seeking measures to improve facilities and support for sportspersons in the state.
