Biharsharif: Nalanda MP Kaushalendra Kumar on Wednesday reviewed the progress of key development projects in the district at a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) held here.Nalanda DM Kundan Kumar made a detailed presentation on the status of various govt schemes and submitted compliance reports on decisions taken at the previous DISHA meeting. Officials from departments such as agriculture, animal husbandry, health, rural development and infrastructure also gave sector-wise updates.Addressing officials, the MP directed them to fast-track the resolution of local issues and ensure completion of embankment repair works before the onset of the monsoon. He also stressed the need for better arrangements for devotees during the upcoming Malmas Mela.In the agriculture sector, focus was laid on schemes including the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana. The DM encouraged farmers to diversify high-value crops such as dragon fruit to enhance income. Under animal husbandry, officials highlighted ongoing programmes and stressed wider publicity of free veterinary services through helpline 1962.While reviewing the health sector, the administration emphasised ensuring 100% institutional deliveries, universal immunisation and timely antenatal care. Public representatives were asked to verify hospital facilities and proper display of doctors’ duty rosters.Progress of rural roads under PMGSY and power supply improvement works was reviewed, with instructions for timely execution and swift redressal of public grievances. Urban development schemes, drinking water supply, housing and sanitation initiatives were also discussed.Highlighting industrial development, the DM said efforts were being made to promote local entrepreneurship and agricultural machinery manufacturing in Noorsarai, with the aim of developing Nalanda as a regional industrial hub.
