Elderly man killed over land dispute in Purnia

Patna: An 80-year-old man was allegedly killed in a violent clash over a land dispute at Krishnapuri Yadav Tola under Madhubani police station area of Purnia district on Wednesday night. The victim, identified as Sukhdev Yadav, was attacked with a hammer and sustained multiple injuries to the head, leading to his death on the spot.According to police, the incident occurred when the accused were attempting to install pillars on the disputed land. Sukhdev reached the site and objected, which triggered a heated argument that soon escalated into violence. The attackers allegedly snatched a hammer from a worker and assaulted him.Sukhdev’s son Manoj Yadav and grandson Sujal, who rushed to intervene, were also brutally attacked with sticks. Both suffered serious head and body injuries and were admitted to GMCH for treatment with the help of locals.Madhubani SHO Suraj Kumar said police reached the spot after receiving information and arrested the two accused, Ranjit Yadav and Chandan. “Cases have been registered from both sides and investigation is underway,” Kumar said.Police added that a youth from the other side was also injured during the clash, indicating the dispute had turned into a larger confrontation.
