Malda: NIA summoned TMC’s Sujapur candidate Sabina Yeasmin’s counting agent on Saturday, two days ahead of election results in Bengal, as part of its investigation into the Mothabari incident where judicial officers were gheraoed for hours during the SIR process. NIA, which has summoned 10 persons including a Trinamool block president, asked counting agent Abdul Rahaman to appear before it on Sunday noon.With poll counting on Monday, Rahaman refused to appear before NIA on Sunday and sought at least seven days’ time, citing his responsibilities. He has sent the letter to Arpan Saha, deputy SP/CIO of NIA.TMC strongly criticised the summons to Rahaman (also a zilla parishad member), block president Sariul Sk and other prominent local TMC functionaries. Yeasmin said, “If these local netas and my agent are detained, counting might be jeopardised. In no way were my men or I involved in the incident at Mothabari, which is more than 20 km away from my place.
