Patna: The Higher Education AI Conclave, organised by B D College, Patna, in collaboration with MasterSoft ERP Solutions, Pune, here on Monday, brought together policymakers, academic leaders and technology experts to deliberate on the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the future roadmap for higher education in Bihar.The discussions centred on the growing role of artificial intelligence in assessment reforms, teaching-learning processes, institutional governance and academic transformation. The conclave, titled ‘Transforming Higher Education in Consonance with NEP 2020, Changing Parametric Evaluation and Emerging Technologies’.Welcoming the participants, B D College principal Prof Ratna Amrit underlined the need for academic institutions to realign their practices with the spirit of NEP 2020. She said innovation in teaching-learning, coupled with inclusive and accountable digital transformation, was essential for strengthening Bihar’s higher education ecosystem. The conclave, she added, reflected the institution’s commitment to academic excellence and reform-oriented discourse.Governor-cum-chancellor Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (retd) delivered the keynote address, stressing the importance of education reforms supported by technology-driven governance and institutional restructuring.MasterSoft managing director Shyam Somani, in his welcome address, highlighted the relevance of ERP systems, AI-enabled processes and data-driven decision-making in improving academic delivery, transparency and student engagement.The inaugural session also featured addresses by Gopal Meena, secretary to the governor; Rajiv Roshan, secretary of the higher education department; Prof Girish Kumar Chaudhary, chairman, Bihar State Higher Education Council; and Prof Upendra Prasad Singh, vice-chancellor, Patliputra University. Speakers emphasised the urgent need for coordinated and NEP-aligned transformation across universities and colleges.A panel discussion, moderated by Gurudev Somani, co-founder and CEO of MasterSoft, focused on accreditation reforms, digital infrastructure and inclusive technology models. The panel included Prof Arun Kumar, Prof Nupur Bose, Prof Rana Singh and Prof N K Agrawal.Technical sessions were conducted by Dr Vallabha Deevi of IIT Madras, Paras Palsatkar of MasterSoft ERP Solutions and Dr Kalpana Singh of NITI Aayog, linking NEP 2020 priorities with institutional requirements and emerging technology applications.
