Ranchi: Ajsu-P chief Sudesh Mahto on Monday questioned the criminal investigation department’s probe into examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and demanded an independent inquiry by a panel of former judges and subject experts.Addressing reporters at the party office, Mahto said questioning and arresting a few officials would not be enough to uncover the scale of alleged irregularities. He demanded that all officials of the JPSC and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission be shifted from their posts before the proposed independent team begins its investigation, saying their continuance could affect the credibility of the inquiry.Mahto said there was a widespread perception that the govt refers sensitive cases to the CID when it wants to put the matter “in the cold”. He asked the state govt to disclose how many cases the CID had investigated in a free, fair and time-bound manner.Referring to recent developments, Mahto alleged that Jharkhand had witnessed not only the loot of natural resources but also of jobs. He claimed that a scam of this nature could not have taken place without the patronage of the state govt.Calling it unfortunate that students had been forced to take to the streets, Mahto said the protests should not be politicised. He added that Ajsu-P would support students whenever they needed assistance.Mahto also asked the govt to explain how it would ensure transparency in recruitments planned across state agencies and departments over the next six months.
