RANCHI: “America mein baitha Spider-Man can listen, but the Jharkhand government cannot?”, a protester dressed as the superhero drew attention during the ongoing JPSC-JSSC aspirants’ agitation in Ranchi.Speaking to ANI, he took a sharp swipe at the state government over alleged recruitment exam irregularities.During the students’ ‘Vidhan Sabha gherao’ march, the protester, wearing a Spider-Man mask, said he had come to Jharkhand because the voices of aspirants were “falling on deaf ears” of the state government.“Your government doesn’t want to hear us, doesn’t want to do anything,” he said, while explaining his decision to join the protest. The unusual appearance came as the agitation by JPSC and JSSC aspirants entered its 17th day, with students pressing for action over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.
Students march towards Vidhan Sabha
The aspirants have been demanding a CBI probe into alleged irregularities, particularly in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination. The students proceeded with their planned march towards the Jharkhand assembly despite the government claiming that it had accepted 98% of their demands.Protesters have rejected the claim, saying only three of 13 exams have been cancelled. The administration stepped up security around the assembly, imposing prohibitory orders and putting up barricades and barbed wire within a 750-metre radius of the premises.
ED joins probe amid protests
The agitation gained another significant dimension after the Enforcement Directorate launched a probe into alleged irregularities in several Jharkhand recruitment examinations, including the JSSC-CGL exam. The agency took note of an FIR registered by the state police CID and other complaints and is investigating the matter under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.The development came as the students continued their protest and demanded a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities.Meanwhile, three members of the Jharkhand Public Service Commission, Ajeeta Bhattacharya, Anima Hansda and Jamal Ahmad, resigned amid the agitation.Their resignations came after the Jharkhand CID summoned them for questioning over alleged irregularities, including paper leaks.
