Bengal reconstitutes backward classes commission
Retired Calcutta High Court judge Justice Ranjit Kumar Bagas has been appointed as the chairman

Kolkata: Bengal govt has reconstituted the West Bengal Commission for Backward Classes, appointing retired Calcutta High Court judge Justice Ranjit Kumar Bagas its chairman.According to a notification issued by the Backward Classes Welfare department, retired IAS officers Naveen Prakash and Roshni Sen have been appointed as members, while WBCS officer Kanchan Chaudhury will serve as the member secretary.The commission examines requests for inclusion of communities in the backward class list, hears complaints regarding over- or under-inclusion, and advises the state govt on matters related to backward class classification and welfare.
