Bhojpur targets 9k rooftop solar installations by Nov

Ara: More than 9,000 households in the Bhojpur district which have been found eligible to avail of the PM Surya Ghar : Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship initiative of the central government that will provide up to 300 units of free electricity per month to eligible consumers, are expected to start availing the scheme by Nov this year.Bhojpur DM Tanai Sultania in a statement said about the flagship scheme, “The Bhojpur district has set a target of installing rooftop solar systems at the homes of more than 9,000 eligible families under the PM Surya Ghar : Muft Bijli Yojana. The concerned officials have been instructed to strengthen inter – departmental coordination , maintain regular monitoring and ensure that the district achieves its target well before the Nov 26 deadline.The DMs also directed officials to resolve any bottlenecks in the implementation of the flagship scheme without any delay so that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of the scheme on time.Meanwhile under the regular inspection and monitoring of the flagship scheme, the warehouse established at Ekauna in the Udwantnagar block of the Bhojpur district under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana was inspected by the DM on Tuesday evening. During the inspection the DM reviewed the progress of the scheme and assesed the availability of materials and infrastructure required for installing rooftop solar systems .The DM directed the executive engineer of the electricity supply division to ensure the prompt availability of all necessary equipment and expedite the installation process so that the work is completed within the stipulated timeline.According to the officials under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, the eligible beneficiaries will get direct subsidy of Rs 30,000 for 1KW capacity, Rs 60,000 for 2 KW and up to 78,000 for 3KW or above capacity. The flagship scheme is likely to bring reduction in the electricity bill for up to 70 % to 90% . The beneficiaries can earn money too under the scheme by selling the surplus electricity to the grid .For installing higher capacity rooftop solar systems the beneficiaries canavail of easy loan up to Rs 2 lakh on low interest without any collateral .
